Silicon metal application: Silicon metal is widely used in many fields such as electron, steel-smelting, optics, mechanism, automobile manufacturing, chemical industry, metallurgy, medicine field and national defenses etc. It is mainly used in the following industries: a. Silicon metal is applied in Si-Al alloys producing, with a dosage of 50% of the whole. Si-Al alloys are heat-resistant and wearable, with a small coefficient of thermal expansion, it is widely used in automobile manufacturing, aviation industry, electric industry and ship manufacturing etc. b. Silicon metal is the basic raw material of polycrystalline silicon and mono crystalline silicon. Through purification, processing and treatment, we can get poly crystalline silicon from silicon metal, and then it can be achieved to mono crystalline silicon from poly crystalline silicon. The mono crystalline silicon wafer can be made into IC, electronic components and solar battery etc, which is the indispensable basic material of modern industry, science and technology development. c. Silicon metal is used as the additive of non-ferro alloys, the alloy element of silicon steel, and the indispensable deoxidizer of steel-making and non-ferro alloys smelting. In steel-making industry, 5kg silicon metal will be consumed for 1 ton steel. d. In chemical industry, silicon metal is used in organic compound producing, such as silicon oil, silicon gel, construction antiseptic, hydrated silica, and it is also used as additives for packing membrane, furniture dope, decoration lacquer and industry dope, etc. e. Silicon metal can be used as reducer of some kind of metals, especially for ceramic alloy and fire-resistant materials.
